Cinemas around Macclesfield

Cinemac

Heritage Centre, Roe St, Macclesfield SK11 6UT, UK – 07871 422937

Interesting historical venue for a cinema inside the old Sunday School building. Great old style cinema seats, complete with balcony, but missing an organ. All in all a great retro experience. Snacks & drinks available and lacking any kind of franchise feel. Very atmospheric :)

What a delightful surprise in the heart of the Heritage Centre. Modern comforts back in time to watch a film. Even have the old ticket dispenser at the payment point though cards can be used now.

Theatres for Macclesfield

MADS Theatre

Lord St, Macclesfield SK11 6SY, UK – 01625 611974

A Small theatre the last true theatre left in Macclesfield with seating for around 200 people. Being small there's a great view of the stage with good acoustic. There's a small bar and a dedicated team of volunteers and amateur dramatics. I've seen several plays all put onto a very good standard.

Prestbury Youth pantomime production of Sinbad. Excellent. Great fun. Lovely little theatre.

Gawsworth Hall

Church Ln, Gawsworth, Macclesfield SK11 9RN, UK – 01260 223456

Do you like Shakespeare? Well, you look at a review of an English hall, so of course you do. Well, you have come to the right place. Because: the lords of the manor (I am not sure they're real lords but something close) do stage a Shakespeare festival every year in the summer and it is not some village excuse for community stuff but proper, beautifully delivered theatre set in the stunning grounds of this place. Fun fact: the Gawsworth owners are the culprits responsible of bringing the American grey squirrel to thy kingdom. One of their Victorian forefathers was apparently the guy who brought some of those cuties back over without knowing anything about those dangerous diseases they carried that would lead to the demise of the red squirrel. All very Shakespearean culprits, you see...

A great venue! Looking forward to shooting more weddings here.
